Up to 17 pioneer flight routes are currently in operation in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, according to the Directorate General of Air Transportation, Ministry of Transportation. The pioneer Flights are a component of the Tarakan Regional Coordinator’s 2024 Pioneer Air Transportation Program In particular in the North Kalimantan region, pioneer flights continue to lead the way in air transportation services, according to the chairman of the Tarakan Airport Operator Unit. There will become more route added in2024, bringing the total number of pioneer passenger flight routes to 17. There are also five pioneer freight/cargo flight routes, as well as numerous more frequencies on the existing lines. The government and local population could benefit from having additional access choices out of Long Apung, which is now reachable from Tanjung Selor, Malinau, and now via Tarakan, thanks to the new Tarakan – Long Apung (PP) route.
